Yes, I'm looking forward to it. So far, the sneak preview stuff looks interesting. I'm getting tired of 3.5.

but this means I'm going to have to buy 90$ worth of books AGAIN. but the electronic versions of books the COME with the real life versions sounds cool. Now if only i had a lab top...

yes i know i don't "have" to buy the new books but for a 16 year old "Have to" and "Want to" are separated by a vary thin and blurred line

Oddly, we're losing a fella in our gaming group partly because he doesn't want to buy all new books, and the rest of us as talking about how much we're looking forward to it. We're about 90% done with Shackled City (yes, we're slow), and 4e isn't due for a year, but he decided to leave anyway. Oh well. Anyone live in Marietta, GA and need a gaming group?

I have not yet decided about the new edition.
but I also haven't read the preview stuff.

I prefer to make decisions based on materials in hand, and not on previews.

I've been reading the official previews at www.wizards.com. So far, WotC's plans seem good. I'd suggest interested parties go read them.

For example: No more flat-footed or touch AC. If someone needs to touch you to do something regardless of armor, it rolls to hit against your Reflex!

Which leads me to the saves. Instead of you making the roll, the dragon now rolls his firebreath against your Reflex, just like AC. If he hits, you take full damage. If he misses, you take half.

Wizards now get to roll for spells (some or all I don't know) to see if they do criticals.

Encounter design is being drastically overhauled. Monster challenge rating will now be more precisely calculated, and the standard encounter will be four monsters vs four heroes (instead of the old one monster versus 4 heroes).

They're also revising the cosmology.

etc
